Computer-based Language Prototype for TNK-BP Russia
UCL has developed innovative language and cultural training in computer-based, virtual and web-based environments to assist global businesses in developing and assessing communication skills and intercultural awareness.

Following initial negotiations by Dr Anna Clark with BP and TNK-BP, a team of UCL language experts, led by Dr Christine Hoffman, visited TNK-BP in Moscow. After assessing the company’s particular language and cultural challenges, a detailed Needs Analysis was drawn up. UCL then prepared an innovative computer-based prototype for the international oil company, which was trialled and evaluated in Moscow. This programme drew upon sophisticated MALTED multi-authoring technology developed by the EU Telematics Applications programmes Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci, which was then tailored to the specific business needs of TNK-BP.
UCL specialises in providing tailored language programmes for global companies with special needs in oil & gas, engineering, medicine & pharmaceutical industries.
