Project Development Manager
Laura joined the Project Management team in September 2015, following 10 years’ experience in Pharmaceutical R&D, Clinical Diagnostics and Biobanking sectors. She has been involved in the project management and technical development of several key products/processes for the in-vitro diagnostics market, as well as early phase formulation development for biopharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining UCLB, Laura was the Biobank Technical Leader at BBI Solutions. In addition to managing the collection and provision of clinical specimens for research and manufacturing use, she also developed of a Synthetic Rubella IgM Serum product for use as a reagent in the manufacture of clinical diagnostic kits. The product was recognised by the Welsh business community, winning ‘Product of the Year’ at the Made In Wales awards in 2014.
She holds an honours degree in Biochemistry from The University of Manchester and a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Exeter. Laura was fortunate to spend a year in industry working in Biopharmaceutical Development at GlaxoSmithKline, a team she subsequently re-joined following graduation.
Laura is a BSI trained Internal Auditor (ISO13485/9001), familiar with HTA regulations for handling & storage of human tissue for research, and qualified in the handling of materials under Containment Level 2 & 3 conditions.
