Steven has played an important role in the development and growth of UCLB, as the company has grown to become one of the UK’s leading university IP commercialisation companies.
Some of his key achievements have included:
- Playing vital enabling roles across the creation, growth and exit of spinout companies such as Senceive and Endomag, that have delivered strong financial and impact returns for UCLB and UCL.
- Development of the UCL Technology Funds, captive investment funds providing capital to support the development of licensing projects and spinout companies.
- Supporting the creation of an innovative express-licensing platform (E-Lucid) that is now used by over 30 TTOs across the world to enable the commercialisation of IP assets in areas ranging from software to educational materials.
- Development of enterprise support initiatives such as the IO programme & Mentors@UCLB in order to enhance UCLB’s opportunity pipeline and accelerate progress to commercialisation.
- Building UCLB’s social venture support capability with successes including TrimTots and HelpDiabetes.
- Development of a UCLB Proof of Concept and Seed Fund enabled by retained profits from UCLB’s commercialisation activities.
- Enabling substantive growth in UCLB’s Physical Science & Engineering activity and opportunity support capacity.
Most recently, Steven has been leading a project to develop an investment vehicle and associated incubation initiative that is intended to support the development and growth of spinout companies from London universities and that is hoped to be announced in due course.
Steven is now keen to explore new challenges, and we thank him for his many years of service and wish him well for the future.
