Dr Theresa Leon-Brown was initially trained as a molecular biologist, studying her PhD in Immunology at the University of Barcelona, followed by her postdoctoral studies on epigenetics and drug sensitivity in haematological malignancies at the UCL Cancer Institute.

After finishing her postdoctoral work, she joined BenevolentAI as a principal scientist, where she worked on multiple AI-enhanced early drug discovery programmes and developed her interest and experience about commercialisation and business development.
