We have an opportunity for an outstanding lawyer to join the Legal Affairs Team as a Legal Counsel. You will be required to be an experienced lawyer and have a strong background of working in a demanding environment, either private practice or in-house, is essential.
The successful candidate needs to have broad and generalist legal experience and be capable with minimal supervision, to advise on corporate and commercial matters and in general, on a broad spectrum of legal matters, including intellectual property. Expertise in venture capital/private equity investment rounds, share sales transactions, company formation (start-ups and spin-outs companies), negotiating and drafting various commercial agreements, is required.
You will be expected to take an investigative, practical and commercial approach while being pragmatic and be able to work autonomously as well as be part of a growing dynamic team. The Legal Counsel will report directly to the Senior Counsel Corporate and when appropriate, to the Director of Legal Affairs.
This is a unique opportunity to take up a Legal Counsel role within a leading technology transfer company supporting one of the UK’s top research-led universities.
The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week and the post is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2019 with the possibility to become permanent. The salary will be in the range of £45,000 to £55,000 depending on experience. In addition, the company operates a defined benefits contributory pension scheme and performance-related pay programme.
